Support the GDICC
The Greater Danbury
Irish Cultural Center (GDICC) has initiated an
exciting campaign to raise the necessary funds to
complete renovations to our new home on Lake Avenue.
Our goal is to raise $150,000.00, over the next two
months, by selling building bonds to our current
members and friends.
The bonds will be issued by the GDICC, in
denominations of $500.00. That means to achieve our
goal we must sell a total of 300 bonds. These bonds
will be a non-interest bearing loan to the GDICC, and
the board of directors has approved a bond redemption
plan that will cash in a minimum of ten bonds per year
($5,000) by lottery selection. Please

your check. If you have trouble viewing this link,
please

and paperwork will be mailed to you.
You may be wondering why we have chosen this process
to raise the necessary capital to finish our building,
versus a traditional gift campaign. Since the Danbury
AOH/LAOH divisions created the GDICC in 2006, we have
been refining the corporate structure and by-laws. It
was recently decided to file the GDICC with the
Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
entity. The application is still pending and we cannot
yet accept personal and corporate donations on a tax
deductible basis. Once our status is confirmed with
the IRS, we would encourage those individuals wishing
to make a gift to the GDICC, to donate their bonds
back to the organization. The matter at hand today is
our need for immediate capital to finish the project.
Failing to do so will cause the project to stall
indefinitely.
The officers and directors of the GDICC, as well as
the leadership of our local AOH/LAOH divisions,
recognize that not every member or family is in the
same financial circumstance. If they were, we would
simply ask our 200 member families to give $750 and we
would be done. What we are asking is that everyone
attempt to participate by purchasing at least one
bond. For those who can do more, recognizing that not
everyone will participate, we ask that you consider
purchasing multiple bonds.
These are difficult times, and this request is asking
much of those who have already worked so hard to
achieve the goal of establishing an Irish center in
Danbury. It is time to complete the task, however, and
having given so much of your time and talent, we now
need you to commit your treasure. Please push us
across the finish line and help us celebrate the
opening of our new home this Spring.
Faithfully Yours,
Vincent Nolan
